Just because Digg does it doesn't mean it's a bad idea.

I knew ppl were going to think I'm an ex-digger, but I hardly used digg..

Digg had it next to every post you clicked... no? I would make it more like a new tab, next to 'What's hot', 'new,'controversial', 'saved'

or a new sorting option like you have in 'new' -> 'rising'

we have saved, and when you'r in a post you can always click 'related' so there is something similar

It used to exist, and it sucked. Recommendations are a tricky business. Now if reddit accepted to publish at least some of their data, and issue a netflix-like challenge, then we could do something interesting.

That's the reason why I think we should move towards a decentralized version of reddit: so we don't have to beg when we want to change something. I've been experimenting stuff for a while now, but it's not a simple project :)

well, you can branch the source code, if I'm not mistaken reddit is open source..

That's true, but the changes would be so big, there would be almost no common code.

I posted nearly the same feature, but it got only two upvotes :-(

the ways of the internet eh? Well, I searched for existing posts to post in there, but didn't find yours...

but your explanation sounds like the 'related' tab we have when we're in a post? I'm thinking more of a 'portal' where posts are shown based on every upvote we ever made (not just this one link we're reading/upvoted at that time)

Reddit was initially a 'recommendation' engine back in the early days. It was horrible. Digg tried it too and it was horrible.
