I have never been able to get reddit RSS feeds to work reliably, particularly in Google Reader.

Thanks. The default reddit RSS always worked fine for me. I'm only running into problems now that I'm trying to use the one based off my customized frontpage.

Found a quick workaround though. I made a yahoo pipe that took the feed in and the just spit it back out. Somehow Google Reader found that to be more acceptable.

This is great, thanks for the fix. To newbies (like me): make a Yahoo pipe consisting of a "fetch feed". Copy the RSS reddit button's info into this fetch feed's URL (right click on RSS and "copy link address"). Route the "fetch feed" output to the top of "Pipe Output". Name your pipe and save. Run the pipe. You'll see your inbox (or whatever). Copy the contents of the RSS feed button on this page, paste into Google Reader. Lovely!

http://www.reddit.com/prefs/feeds then try copying the RSS one instead of the JSON

Mhm, that's where I was going. It actually started working better yesterday.... seemingly on its own. Unfortunately the feed only updates like very 3 hours, that's a Google Reader issue, not a reddit one.
